Tim is CHS Managing Director with overall responsibility for all aspects of the business including service delivery and quality assurance. Tim has worked in the health sector for the last 14 years starting his career with the Audit Commission as a VFM project officer where he qualified as a CIPFA accountant. He then set up SDC Consulting, a specialist health management consulting business, which was focussed on delivering large, complex clinical change programmes with the NHS and private health care sector e.g. whole systems NHS reviews in Leeds, Manchester and Edinburgh and capital infrastructure projects in Leicester, Salford and London. SDC Consulting was then sold to SERCO PLC and Tim became Managing Director of Serco Health where he developed a thriving Hospital Facilities management business and primary care clinical delivery business including: GP out of hours services; prison health provision; Chronic disease management programmes and forensic medical services. Tim Joined CHS in May 2007.

Simon Charles Sheard MB ChB MMedSci DAvMed FFSEM(I) FFOM Medical Director

Simon studied medicine at Bristol University qualifying in 1982.

He served as a Medical Officer in the Royal Navy for 16 years reaching the rank of Surgeon Commander. His time was spent in frontline service with the Royal Marines, Fleet Air Arm and Surface Flotilla. While in the Royal Navy he completed his higher specialist training in Occupational Medicine with an MSc from Birmingham University. He also obtained qualifications in Aviation and Sports Medicine through full time and distance learning.

On leaving the Royal Navy Simon joined Capita Health Solutions in 1998 and was instrumental in setting to work the processes and procedures in the National Case Referral Centre in Coventry. He assumed responsibility for all clinical delivery in Oct 2004.

Simon is Regional Specialty Adviser for the West Midlands; Chair of the Post Graduate Dean’s Training Committee and member of the Faculty of Occupational Article 14 Committee as well as a Board Member of the Intercollegiate Board of Sports and Exercise Medicine.

Jim Hughes Account Director

After spending 23 years in the Armed Forces, Jim joined Capita Health Solutions in Jan 2003. During his military service he gained wide experience in all parts of the world. His roles have involved the identification and introduction of new concepts and equipment, project management and trials planning and conduct. He spent 3 years in strategic planning and policy in the MOD.

These roles have been liberally interspersed with various operations ranging from small groups to large scale coalition, multi national and UN operations. He finished his military service leading an organisation of 1500 based across the UK and operating worldwide.

He had his commercial apprenticeship managing outsourced businesses before before moving to Capita Health Solutions in early 2003 to implement and manage newly won Government contracts. Subsequently he ran the businesses of London and Southern Region business unit.

As Head of Operations Jim is responsible for all operational and administrative functions and is supported by a team of 150 based across the UK.
